Your Mission

As a Footwear Materials intern, you will support cross-functionally on a range of footwear styles across multiple seasons. Additionally, you will define and take ownership of your own project aimed at taking our material toolbox to the next level.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate materials that align with design vision, sustainability goals, technical specifications, cost considerations, and production constraints
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Design, Product Management, Sourcing, Testing, and suppliers to resolve material-related issues that may arise during the development process
  • Gain hands-on experience with material data management in our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
  • Research and analyze industry opportunities to propose solutions to advance material sustainability initiatives, enhance material performance, or refine sourcing strategies
  • Demonstrate a proactive and agile workflow between briefed projects and whitespace opportunities

Your story

  • Recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Textile Design, Textile Science & Engineering, or Textile Technology, or similar program.
  • You have a collaborative spirit and can communicate clearly with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds (verbal and written English is a must)
  • You are detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing creativity with structure in a fast-paced environment
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and are motivated to problem-solve in the face of unexpected challenges
  • Bonus: You are passionate about technical materials in footwear, with a strong awareness of sustainability and its role in the industry

About the Team

The Footwear Materials team is responsible for driving upper material developments for On. We are tasked with ensuring each material on the shoe meets the rigorous demands of our runners, hikers, and anyone who seeks performance every day. We are a diverse team that works directly with our Asia suppliers to elevate the quality, performance, and sustainability of our products.
