Whether you’re looking to jump start your career or gain first hands-on experience in a new field, an internship at On offers you a unique growth experience, the chance to make an impact from day 1 and contribute to On’s growth journey. We are looking for fresh ideas, curious minds and passionate individuals ready to make a difference. Our internships generally last 6 months and you will be fully embedded in a team.

  • Prerequisite: Interest in area relevant to the internship, passion for On, right to work in EU / Switzerland

Your Mission

  • You will participate in the Material seasonal directions and concepts
  • You will will learn how material strategy gets applied, and support on the implementation of selected materials for new and existing projects
  • You will work on material engineering and how to translate a material concept into a material tech-pack that can be handed over to the factory
  • You will learn about consumer groups and communities and how to speak to them from a product design side
  • You will work closely with the Design team and other cross-functional teams like Innovation, Product Development and the Product Management on creating functional and performance-driven products from a material side.
  • You will pro-actively hunt trends in regards to latest print, material, finish and coloring technologies in the industry and always challenge our standards in this field
  • You will learn about Color strategy and support the Color design team on how color directions are applied on new and existing projects

Your story

  • You are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Textile Design, Industrial/ Product/ Graphic Design, or a related field
  • You have an exceptional feel and interest in materials, colors and textures -You have a strong portfolio that showcases your skills and potential
  • You have an strong interest in footwear and fashion -You are proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Experience in rendering programs is a plus
  • You have an interest in trend and consumer research and the ability to communicate research through strong mood boarding
  • Your strong organisational skills and ability to manage complex projects allow you to stick to critical timelines and deadlines
  • You have an entrepreneurial attitude, ambition to learn and broaden your horizon, and you are willing to take on challenges
  • You have an explorative mind, excellent communication, and presentation skills
  • You are fluent in English both written and spoken

About the Team

You will be part of the highly creative Color & Material Design Studio Team based in Zurich which is On’s internal trend forecasting agency, defining seasonal topics and palettes for all products to create exciting head-to-toe looks from a color/material side.

The Design Directions team consists of 2 sub teams with different focus areas. The Material Design team is responsible for On’s strategic future material creative direction, works in close collaboration with our Innovation team and implements the material strategy across footwear products. The Color Design team oversees the full head-to-toe vision of color application per collection and enables the exciting color flows across all fields.

The Color & Material Design Studio Team is embedded in the global Design Studio, which is responsible for all of On’s disruptive product designs. It includes apparel design, accessories design, design direction, footwear design, and innovation design. The designers all closely collaborate with developers, product managers and innovation. This role will be primarily in the Material Design Team, and supporting the Color Design Team.
