We are excited to offer the position of Senior Specialist - Innovation CAE Engineer, within our engineering and development innovation team. You will work in a very fast-moving environment where you will help lead and drive the full innovation and creative process of footwear design, starting from concept research to the production.

Your Mission

  • You will be responsible for utilize computer-aided design (CAD) (Solidworks or/and Fusion 360) to support engineering projects.
  • You will assist in creating and revising production drawings, including detail and assembly drawings.
  • You will work on developing concepts with Finite Element Modelling (FEM) simulations
  • You will work closely with Project Managers regarding new and revised drawing, models review, mechanical testing and provide support as needed.
  • You will develop and support the innovation team with data processing and data analysis
  • You will collaborate with our Zurich and Vietnam based development teams on creating functional and performance-driven products
  • You should be a strong communicator, adapt at liaising with key stakeholders and confident presenting to cross-functional teams
  • You enjoy working as a team player and have an open style with sharing and taking on various points of view
  • You must have a great knowledge and understanding about the mechanical engineering

Your story

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field with 2-5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A curious mind with a strong interest for contemporary footwear, fashion, and design
  • Excellent computer-aided design (CAD) (Solidworks or/and Fusion 360), 2D software skills are definitely a plus
  • Experience with Finite Element Modelling (Abaqus, Ansys preferred)
  • You should be fearless in terms of new thinking around design
  • Structured mind, excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management skills which enable you to work in a fast-moving environment and handle several projects and seasons at the same time
  • Strong interest in working with cross-functional teams – development, materials, designers
  • Team player and a positive mind
  • You enjoy networking across various functions
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken, any other language would be a plus
  • A good understanding of AI and how it could cater as a tool in exploration
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and revise drawings from outside vendors.
  • Competence in applying basic mathematical equations in engineering contexts
  • Familiarity with Digital Image Correlation (Zeiss GOM)
  • Experience using high-speed video is a bit plus
  • Basic understanding of plastics engineering and materials, especially for injection molded parts and additive manufacturing

About the Team

The Innovation team is responsible for On’s future products, out-of-the-box thinking and athlete-informed technology that differentiates On’s products in the market. Within the Innovation team you will join the Process & Technology team which is focused on concept creation for novel manufacturing processes and products. You will have the opportunity to be part of an agile and interdisciplinary department of engineers, scientists and designers. We foster a fast-paced environment with direct decision making and the freedom to design projects and processes.
